In today’s world, Education Reform and funding are falling to the back of the list as the economy continues to struggle. However, it is all but important for the Republicans and Democrats to address this issue to the people of the country.
For the Democrats, they want the federal government to intervene in education as much as possible. (www.NewsBatch.com).They wish to increase funding for all schools such as, Public, charter, and private, by making tax programs to increase spending.  They also want the federal government to put an end to private school vouchers. They want to use all of the money and distribute it to all sorts of schools instead of private ones. Also, they wish to use this money, as well as money from tax programs, to create more schools that carry the ability to meet the standards of education in our world today. With these new schools, they also hope to bring in new teachers that will bring the education needed to students. With so many teachers at these schools, they also believe in raising teacher’s salaries therefore putting primer emphasis on accountability of giving students the education they need. With all this reform they want to bring, they wish to bring their ultimate goal which is reduced class size (www.ontheissue.org). With reduced class sizes, students can now have more individual time if students need help with the learning process. With all of this to benefit the school districts, they also want to establish after school programs to give the opportunity to children to open their minds to brand new things. Democrats not only wish to aid K-12 schools, they also want to aid higher learning facilities. They wish to support college enrollment by standing firm to college tuition tax deductibles. They also want to increase Pell Grants, issued by the federal government, to the students of universities, junior colleges, etc.(www.irs.com)  Lastly, they believe in cutting student loan interest rates. With the cut, students would now to be scared to enroll or take their education to a post-secondary level.
The republicans platform stands on education funding and reform touch all the similar issues. However, believe in addressing each in a different manner as well as how they should be addressed (NewsBatch.com). Republicans believe in very limited role of federal government to help in education funding and reform. They believe in having educational saving accounts, such as 529 plans, to help families aid their children in a post- secondary education (www.irs.com). With support for educational saving accounts, they also believe in stopping federal spending on education drastically. Republicans also take priority in supporting voucher programs so that the people can aid in education and not just the government to solve all the problems. The republican platform also believes in increasing the access of higher education, like the democrats, but believe in reforming it in a different way. They believe that to increase the access of higher education, Benefits should increase to students taking challenging courses. They also wish to form partnerships with other schools to create more available studies to students that wish to go into a post-secondary education instead of making tax programs throughout the country. (www.ontheissue.org) Overall, they believe in aiding the problem of education in America by creating programs and plans for the people to help give education in K-12 schools as well as post-secondary schooling, a well needed push. Not only programs and plans, but combining and fully utilizing all of the resources they have to help education, instead of creating more new facilities and federal programs, for the cause of education reform and funding.
